However, for fans who closely follow the trajectory of the player and the team, the news was not a big surprise. Olofmeister had already left several reports that he planned to do other things outside the FaZe Clan. In a statement on Twitter, the athlete said: "Not the ending i wanted but we qualified and that was the most important! Time to take a step back and ill update you guys about my future. Was alot of fun playing and the future is looking really bright for the FaZe team, wish them nothing but the best as always! GGs!".

His FaZe Clan teammate, Marcelo "coldzera" David, had said in early February that olofmeister would be planning to retire from the competitive scenario of CS: GO. In addition, Olof had confirmed to HLTV that retirement would be in its most recent considerations. With his departure announcement, the FaZe Clan volunteered to hire Finn "Karrigan" Andersen, who had already been part of the official cast between the years 2016 and 2019.
The olofmeister story started in 2010. In the year in question, the player established his career as a professional Counter-Strike. However, in 2015 the player achieved a great peak in his career while defending the fnatic shirt, winning two world titles and being elected the best player in the world. After joining the FaZe Clan, the player was successful together with the team in winning the titles: ESL One New York 2017, ELEAGUE Premier 2017, ECS 4 Season, EPICENTER 2018 and BLAST Premier Pro Series Copenhagen 2018.
